4th Annual Hammond Art Walk 6/13/15

The 4th annual Hammond Art Walk has become quite the thing. This year the walk included:

Hammond Arts Center

Felix Maldonado of Flex Studio

Hammond Public Library

It's Just Serendipity

Towle Theater

Hammond Innovation Center

The Blue Room Cafe

Mark Anderson Studios

SideCar

Substation 9

American Printing

Paul Henry's Art Gallery

The HUB of Innovation

For me, parking behind Paul Henry's Art Gallery and the Towle Theater works for starters (above photo). You are able to walk to both of them, and the Hammond Innovation Center, Substation 9, The Blue Room Cafe, Mark Anderson Studios, and American Printing. Then you can drive or bicycle to the others.

Christi and I made it to more than I have photos to show. You can stop in at these locations anytime during the year to see art. Go Online to check their hours, or shows/openings. Tell them Wes & Christi sent you!

The first set of photos were also our first stop, the Hammond Arts Center.

The next set of photos were taken at the Towle Theater, where our artist friend Dawn Arnold Diamantopoulos had her art on display. I first met Dawn at Substation 9 during the 2012 Art Tour (1st art walk).

The next set of photos are of Paul Henry's Art Gallery, where my photography re-started the end of December, 2011.

Our ride back home, via Dairy Bell . . . my first time there!  Enjoyed the ice cream cone, and being able to pay what was on the sign (no extra money for tax).

Tony Award Party 6/6/15

This was a very nice event to benefit the Towle Youth Theater Ensemble. A "Tony Party" was held at the Briar Ridge Country Club (same time as the Tony Awards on TV), red carpet and all, with donations from sponsorship which was raffled off. Proceeds went to the TYTE.

I enjoyed the smiling faces of everyone who bought tickets and attended. Christi was able to photograph everyone while they walked the red carpet. Me, I took most of the candid photos. Enjoy the evening with us!

And the Tony goes to . . . well, we had our chance to vote for our favorites in each of the categories before the The Tony Awards went on TV. The photo above and the next two below are of the team who were looking at our ballots to see who came the closest. (The photo below is Kevin taking peak on the screen as the awards were announced.)

Photo of our ballot . . .

As long as I have been donating my photography time to the Towle Theater, and paying my own way to musicals, plays, and this event, it never crossed my mind that Christi and I would ever have a monetary return as we did tonight. Christi bought raffle tickets and placed them in the box for some of the sponsored gifts. She won the gift card from Albert's Diamond Jewelers! This made our year . . .

Needless to say both Christi and I are proud to support the Towle Theater and the Towle Youth Theatre Ensemble. The art of musicals and plays help us to remember who we are . . . to remember where we came from. This art, combined with all the other forms of art, define humanity. We need to maintain, remember, create, our humanity. We need to grow. We do this through our arts. The next time you go see a musical or play at the Towle, remember this. How has art changed your life? How can you support the Towle Theater!

A special thanks to all the supporters this evening:
