'Tis the season to enjoy and celebrate the company of others, to reflect on times past, present, and future. What enriches us is remembrance of the past, and this musical does just that for me.
Nostalgia can easily be forgotten. You may see something that triggers a happy time, an interesting time, a loving time in your past. For me this musical touches on a lot of that. It reminds me of my mom getting the house ready for the holiday season, time at her siblings houses singing songs of joy and happiness, and being thankful for the family, while all around a piano or the decorated tree.
As a young child in the early 60's watching black and white television, the means of getting to your next episode of Western or Game Show was through commercials. Game shows even took the time to do the commercials themselves to keep the audience captivated.
The annual Towle Theater Christmas Musicals have been a treat for me. A reflection of good times. A "wanting" to sing along. I here my mom singing in the background with each song from days past. Creation of decorations for the tree. Remembering watching the adults "act out" what I see on stage. Life at its best.
Here are some photographs from this years tribute to the fabulous 50's era of holiday traditions. I hope you will enjoy them, and of course, grab what tickets are left for this show.
